Can't Ned and his plant just stay out of trouble, seriously, first they nearly burn to death by colliding with the sun, now they're going to drown and contaminate the ocean with several tons of toxic crap. just get a desk job you unfortunate soul.
anyway, yes, in this episode, international rescue has to save the operator of a deep sea crap cleaning machine, and stop it's toxic cargo from poisoning the ocean, while Lady Penelope and Parker uncover a villainous scheme involving said toxic crap and the Hood. and minus a few little details this is a fun episode. like I said in my series review of the show up until now, the show seems to be finding it's stride with a focus on immediacy over tension. and that does really work for the new, more frantic and less predictable rescue missions they go up against, including this one. but there are inconsistencies, like; if at that depth the pressure cracks Neds window and dents the toxic crap container, how could Gordon leave thunderbird 4 without getting crushed? Also, similar to the Hood subplot in Crosscut, this Hood subplot isn't that interesting, consisting entirely of a car chase with Lady Penelope and Parker and some of the Hood's goons on bikes, it just isn't as interesting as Virgil and Gordon's deep sea rescue, which, like all of their rescues, is constantly hitting complications that make it more interesting and more intense, and thus more fun. I personally can overlook the inconsistencies and the less engaging subplot, because this is still a fun deep sea rescue episode, and it's nice to see thunderbird 4 again, after a 10 week absence. this episode continues the new path of Thunderbirds and still proves that it's a worthy successor to the old, even with some rough edges. check it out.
