Thunderbirds The Perils of Penelope review

Here's what you need to know; after inventing a revolutionary and top secret new rocket fuel, professor Borender mysteriously vanishes, Lady Penelope is on the case, but soon finds herself in mortal danger.

This episode is somewhat different to the 2 before it, while Trapped in the Sky and Pit of Peril were all about the adventure and the rescue, this episode is more about the spy adventure, and it's primary focus is therefore on Lady Penelope, who really shines in this episode, as does Parker, Parker is actually pretty awesome a few times in this episode, usually with the help of the coolest car ever to be the colour pink; FAB1. meanwhile Penelope is much better at the subtle espionage, something that she does in this episode. this shift in focus works, as it's cool to see characters we haven't seen a lot of take centre stage and have their own adventure. And the adventure is pretty cool, a fun little spy story with evil baddies and suave heroes and some potentially world ending new science that the baddies want. In that there is less of the Thunderbirds in this episode, but the adventure is still fun to watch. When International Rescue do show up, they arrive just in time, and this episode ends with a cool and intense scene in a train tunnel. it's worth mentioning that this episode earns it's name, Penelope is almost drugged, almost gassed, almost thrown off a moving train, and dangled in front of a moving train, it's a dangerous life. There is no Mole in this episode, or elevator car assisted landing, so really the Thunderbirds stuff isn't as interesting in this episode, simply because there's less of it but what's here is just less interesting, that said the characters are what drives this episode, and they are really cool, again, particularly Penelope and Parker.

while there is less Thunderbirds in Perils of Penelope, there is in it's place a fun little spy adventure with a pair of cool characters that till this point haven't been in the show much, and it has a cool and intense scene in a train tunnel that's cool to watch. I prefer the more Thunderbirds heavy episodes, but I don't really have a problem with this one, it's worth watching.
